Communities in Boise turn pavement to parks for National Park(ing) Day
September 17, 2018
Come join the Vista community in celebrating turning pavement to parks for one day. On Sept 21st from Noon – 8pm in Vista Village we will be creating a park in the parking lot. Visit the park and tell us how you’d like to see the access to businesses improved and parks for all. You could also win a free tree to plant in your yard.
ULI Idaho is proud to be part of this event through our work with the Vista Healthy Corridor Initiative, a partnership with the Depot Bench NA, City of Boise, and the Vista Business Bench Association. This event is supported by a grant from the National Street Service.
By transforming a section of the Vista Village parking lot into a park, we will:
- Bring the community together and spark ideas of what parks can do for the community.
- Learn how community members use active forms of transportation to get to the Vista Village.
- Highlight Vista Village Businesses.
On Sept 21st you will also see other communities taking part in turning their parking lots to parks in the Collister Neighborhood, North End Neighborhood, Downtown, and City Hall. This is the beginning of a citywide movement!
